I highly recommend Jen! We had her at my daughter’s birthday party and a lot of the kids were saying that it was the best party ever!
We have booked Jen 2 years in a row for our summer camp. It was a big hit and the kids loved it. I would highly recommend !
Highly recommend! Jen just performed at my daughter’s party. She has fair pricing and spectacular animals!
I highly recommend A Girl with Scales for any special event! Jen is wonderful with kids, even in a large-group setting! Not only does she provide an educational experience, but she gives kids what they want most- interaction with her animals!! Overall, a fantastic experience!
The twins’ birthday party was a true collaborative success! Thank you so much A Girl with Scales for the great entertainment!
We had so much fun at a birthday party last year with Jen & the kids learned so much. Reasonably priced too.
I had the pleasure of attending an event that Jen was hosting. Everyone in attendance had a fantastic time. Jen was awesome at presenting all of her animals. She was extremely knowledgeable and patient when answering all of the kids questions. Definitely give Jen a call for a one of a kind party your kids will be sure to enjoy.
I have attended two events with A Girl with Scales and both shows did not disappoint! I couldn’t tell who was more intrigued, the kids or the ADULTS! Jen has a true passion for reptile. She professionally brings great enthusiasm and education to children as well as a hands-on experience. A natural entertainer!
Meet Dennis, our charming veiled chameleon stepping into the spotlight now that the legendary Mr. Wilson has retired! Dennis is eager to prove himself and has some big scales to fill, but he’s up for the challenge. Like all veiled chameleons, he’s a master of color-changing—though he’s still perfecting his signature look. Equal parts shy and showy, Dennis is ready to wow new audiences and carry on Mr. Wilson’s proud tradition of making reptile fans out of everyone he meets. The legacy is in good hands—or rather, good feet!
Meet Lloyd, our resident Green Iguana and the undisputed king of relaxation. Lloyd takes the term “lounge lizard” to a whole new level—if there’s a comfortable spot, he’s already claimed it. Don’t let his laid-back lifestyle fool you though; Lloyd has very specific taste. He expects his salad fresh, his misting right on time, and a good scratch on the head before he’ll even consider acknowledging you. Green Iguanas like Lloyd are known for their impressive size and regal presence, and Lloyd leans into that fully. He’s not lazy—he’s distinguished. There’s a difference, and he will wait patiently while you figure that out.
Meet Conan O’Siren, our young and restless Red Tegu! Conan is endlessly curious about everything—and he uses his split, snake-like tongue to investigate every last inch of his surroundings. While Red Tegus his age are supposed to be hibernating right now, Conan respectfully disagrees. There are bugs to eat, wet cat food to devour, and more bugs after that. When he finally does wind down, you’ll find him tucked into his cork round—but don’t get too comfortable, he’ll be back up and exploring before you know it!
Henry Harold is another feline find — and by “find” we mean Jen literally found him at her vet’s office. Before he could be whisked off to a rescue Jen secured him and the rest is Henry Harold history. He loves to babysit the Scales in the yard and is skilled at keeping away any birds that might be looking for a scaly meal.
At nearly 20, Bing is the senior in the house, but you’d never know it. He loves Christmas (but not Bernadette’s tree!) and watching NCIS with Sal. No one’s really sure why he’s intrigued with the Naval Criminal Investigative Services, but since he’s 20 he gets to do almost everything he wants.
George is a lost & found cat. He was lost, someone found him and called Jen. He’s been part of the crew ever since.
Meet Wilbur, the lovable troublemaker of the bunch! If there’s a vet trip to be had, Wilbur’s probably the reason. Whether it’s eating something he shouldn’t have, playing too rough and breaking his tail, or digging through Jen’s mattress topper to create his own custom “nest,” Wilbur keeps everyone on their toes. Jen knew he and Fern couldn’t be separated, and even though Wilbur is a handful, he’s impossible not to love!
Fern is a little sweetheart who enjoys the simple pleasures in life. Whether she’s cuddling up with Sal or working on her favorite treats, Fern’s calm and loving nature makes her the perfect companion. Jen only planned to rescue one dog, but when she saw Fern and Wilbur together, she knew they were a package deal. And thank goodness—Fern’s sweetness is the perfect balance to her brother’s antics!
Need a hug? Just pick up this sweetie (named Hugger of course) and he’ll wrap his paws around your neck and give you some love.
This is Bernadette. She’s scaly but is a little too sassy to party. Bernie is a loner, but she does love Christmas. She’s demanded the tree be up year round so she can relax among the decorations any time she pleases.
Meet Sal. He and Jen are attached at the hip. He’s the best dressed in the house and boasts a wardrobe that could shame any Hollywood celeb. If you’re lucky he’ll make an appearance at your party. Please, no autographs.
Chicken Strip is an Eastern Collared Lizard. Collared Lizards get their name from the black band around their shoulders and neck. Chick (as we fondly refer to him) has a colorful personality to match his colorful body. Because he’s the only one of “The Scales” who can run on his hind legs, he tends to get a little sassy.
Meet Leo, our big, handsome leopard gecko! Leo is much larger than his buddy Leonard and is proud to be a father to many little geckos over the years. A true creature of habit, Leo spends most of his day snoozing away in his cozy hide, saving up energy for nighttime adventures. As the sun sets, he turns into a stealthy hunter, and if you’re up early enough, you might just catch him peeking out for a quick breakfast before heading back to bed. With his laid-back attitude and wise old-dad charm, Leo is a favorite among guests of all ages!
Meet Ruby, our fiery little gargoyle gecko! When Ruby gets excited, her colors light up in brilliant shades of red and orange—just like a gemstone glowing under the sun. With her big, mesmerizing eyes and bumpy skin that looks almost like tiny stone carvings, Ruby is a true showstopper. She loves slurping up her fruity Pangea mix, but when the lights go out, her wild side comes alive—there’s nothing she loves more than a good nighttime bug hunt! Gargoyle geckos like Ruby are famous for their ability to change color and even regrow their tails if they need to, making her one tough (and beautiful) little adventurer.
Say aloha to Hei Hei, our vibrant baby veiled chameleon! Inspired by the spirited rooster from Moana, Hei Hei is curious, playful, and just a tiny bit goofy. He’s determined to grow strong and colorful, chomping down extra bugs every chance he gets! Hei Hei shares the important job of filling the legendary Mr. Wilson’s shoes with his buddy Maui, but they both have their own homes because every chameleon appreciates a bit of “me-time.” With his rotating eyes and charming antics, Hei Hei brings endless smiles and tropical vibes wherever he goes.
Meet Maui, our spectacular veiled chameleon named after the legendary demigod himself! With his bold colors and majestic crest, Maui truly lives up to his epic name. Like his energetic little buddy Hei Hei, Maui has big shoes to fill—stepping up after Mr. Wilson’s well-earned retirement. He’s confident, adventurous, and loves to show off his climbing skills among lush green leaves. Maui spends his days exploring and snacking on tasty insects, always on the lookout for his next exciting quest. Full of personality and charm, Maui is ready to make every event legendary!
Say hello to Clover, our gorgeous green Leachianus gecko! Clover’s name comes from her beautiful clover-colored skin—and a little nod to Jen’s Irish roots. During the day, you’ll usually find her lounging on her bridge, soaking in all the calm vibes. But when the sun goes down, Clover gets chatty! She’s known for her adorable bark (yes, bark—like a little dog!) especially when she’s trying to get the attention of her buddy Fern. Clover loves her sweet Pangea fruit mix, but she’s always up for a crunchy bug hunt when adventure calls.
Get ready to meet Skittles, our bright and beautiful albino iguana! Skittles is named for the sweet splash of yellow and orange that colors his spiky crest—he looks just like a handful of sunshine! Because he’s an albino, Skittles has sensitive eyes and a little trouble seeing clearly, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He’s an expert climber and can often be found lounging proudly on his favorite driftwood bridge. Skittles absolutely loves zucchini (and will politely munch on it all day if you let him). With his striking looks and gentle nature, Skittles brings a whole rainbow of fun to every party!
Meet Milo and Otis the dynamic duo who prove that two toads are better than one! Unlike most frogs who prefer to be alone, these two are all about friendship and hanging out together. Milo, the bigger toad, is always the first to the feast, while Otis, the smaller one, tries to keep up but usually comes up a few bugs short. Colorado River Toads like these two are known for their social side—and for always keeping mealtime competitive!
Roma and Cherry are the ultimate tomato pair with a knack for nighttime hunting! These two Tomato Frogs love stalking their dinner under the stars and then unwinding with a nice soak in their “spa.” With their bright red skin and charming personalities, Roma and Cherry show that it’s always better to do things together—whether it’s hunting or lounging. Tomato Frogs like these two are famous for their bold colors and love of a good evening adventure!
Leonard may be missing a foot, but that doesn’t stop him! After a rocky start (literally), he’s now part of the “Scales” crew and always ready to go. With his constant smile and love for bugs, Leonard is proof that nothing can keep a good gecko down. Leopard Geckos like Leonard are known for their unique spotted patterns and gentle nature—they even love a good pet session!
Sherman is the life of the party—mostly because he’s enormous and eats everything! Known for his love of fish, this big guy never misses a meal. African Bullfrogs like Sherman are famous for their massive size and their “eat now, ask questions later” attitude! Sherman gives Humphrey a run for his money in the “biggest frog” contest—though Humphrey might have a few opinions about that!
Poor Littlefoot! The other Scales think he has a bit of God complex because they’ve heard him referred to as “Jesus Lizard.” They don’t understand it’s just a nickname because he can run on water. Littlefoot is a Basilisk Lizard, typically found in rainforests which explains his water skills. In addition to running on water, he’s a great swimmer and can stay under water up to 10 minutes.
Peter is a Peter’s Banded Skink and he parties at night just like Heckle & Jeckle. He’s not that strong a swimmer, though, so he sticks to the shallowest part of the pool. He sleeps the days away with his head buried in the sand. Unlike the Pacmen, Peter loves other Skinks and hopes for a friend to share his enclosure someday soon.
Meet Heckle & Jeckle. These Tiger Salamanders are happy and personable. They love to party, typically hosting pool parties with a lot of food (they’re constantly hungry). The challenge for Jen is that they’re nocturnal and seem to party at night, which tends to keep the canines awake, and Sal is not pleasant when he doesn’t get enough sleep.
Walter is the only one of the Scales who went to high school. As a result his attitude is quite extra. And that’s saying a lot for a bearded dragon; they have a lot of rizz anyway.
While the other scales can sometimes tire of Walter’s flexing, he’s still in the squad and they all get along fairly well. It doesn’t hurt that Walter watches TV with Sal, and Sal is always ready to spill the household tea.He was a pretty dark color the day he became “Crusty.”
Crusty is a Crested Gecko. Fun fact; Crusty got his name from Jen’s father (and sometimes party assistant) who thought he was a CRUSTED Gecko. The name just stuck. The Crested Gecko doesn’t have eyelids and Crusty has to lick his eyes to clean them. He will also change color based on his mood.
He was a pretty dark color the day he became “Crusty.”
Did you know that the average Albino Pacman Frog is is typically between 2.5″ and 4″? The Scales don’t do average. Meet Humphrey, at 5″ he’s quite the mammoth frog.
Humphrey is two years old and very active — well active for an Albino Pacman Frog — and loves to jump around and splash in his water dish. All that activity makes him hungry and he eats everything in site! Watch your fingers when he’s around!
A Redfoot Tortoise, Long John is the most social of ”The Scales.” He loves to be out and about and especially loves playtime with his mammal pals. While Long John is still a bit salty about being named after underwear, he forgives quickly when Jen gives him a little scratch on his shell. That gets him dancing, which makes him the life of the party!
Squid is a two-year-old Blue Iguana. Blue Iguanas don’t have any yellow pigment in their skins and can only create grey, black or brown in their complexion, which explains why Squid’s head turns black when he’s cold. Squid’s a bit of a loner but he does tolerate his canine and feline brothers and sisters when necessary. He’s also the only one with a bedtime ritual — a few pets on the head and he’s out like a light!
These are two special Sudan Plated Lizards. While most of these species like to be alone, Jalapeño and Popper are the best of friends and partners in crime. While Jalapeño distracts, begging for attention, Popper takes off to roam the area for toys and such, or as a start to a lengthy game of hide-and-seek.
After many wonderful years of teaching kids and adults alike about the magic of chameleons, Mr. Wilson has officially retired. He was a true ambassador for his species, sharing smiles, wowing audiences with his color-changing skills, and showing just how cool reptiles can be. Though he’s now enjoying some well-earned rest, his legacy lives on—especially in Maui and Hei Hei , who are proudly following in his footsteps. Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for all the memories!
Forrest is a Red Uromastyx and lives with Lt. Dan. He loves the bamboo bridge in their space (affectionately known as “Jenny”) and spends time chewing on his leaves and tilting his head when he hears the birds outside. Forrest loves an adventure and can’t wait to meet new people at all the parties. After all, life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.
Meet Lt. Dan also known as the Saharan Uromastyx, Niger Uromastyx or Spiny Tailed Lizard. At about 13” in length Lt. Dan is a fairly small guy but needs his space. He’s been known to hiss at others when he doesn’t want to be bothered. Don’t let that fool you though, he loves a party, and you’ll see him go from dull to vibrant when the party gets hot!
